Decree containing appointment of recognized organizations for the security of seagoing vessels

The Minister of Transport, Public Works and Water Management, Acting according to the Minister of Traffic and Transport of the Netherlands Antilles and the Minister of Tourism and Transport of Aruba;
Noting article 23, first clause, of the Ships Decree 2004;

Resolves:

Article 1
1. The following security organizations, entitled to perform surveys as referred to in article 19 of the Ships Decree 2004, are assigned as recognized security organizations up to 30 June 2009:
  1. American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Europe Ltd in Londen, United Kingdom;
  2. Bureau Veritas (BV) in Paris, France;
  3. Det Norske Veritas (DNV) in Oslo, Norway;
  4. Germanischer Lloyd (GL) AG in Hamburg, Germany;
  5. Lloyd's Register of Shipping (LR) in London, United Kingdom;
  6. Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NK) in Tokyo, Japan.
2. Registro Italiano Navale (RINA) in Genua, Italy, is assigned as recognized security organization, entitled to perform surveys as referred to in article 19 of the Ships Decree 2004, up to 31 December 2004.

Article 2
The organizations assigned pursuant to article 1 continue to comply with the assignment criteria, included in the Annex to circular MSC/Circ.1074 (Interim Guidelines for the Authorization of Recognized Security Organizations) of the Maritime Safety Committee of the International Maritime Organization, and during the performance of their activities they observe the instructions for recognized security organizations given by the Head of the Shipping Inspectorate.

Article 3
This Decree comes into force as of the second day after the date of the Government Gazette in which it is published, and is retroactive to 1 July 2004.

This Decree will be published in the Government Gazette, in the Official Gazette of the Netherlands Antilles and in the Country Gazette of Aruba.
