1          TheSub-CommitteeonRadiocommunicationsandSearchandRescue(COMSAR),atits ninth  session  (7  to  10  February  2005),  agreed  that  following  decision  of  MSC  78  should  be brought to the attention of Member Governments:

 

“Passengerships,otherthanro-ropassenger ships,notcarryingamedicaldoctoronboard butcarryingmorethan100passengersonaroutewhichwouldmaketheresponsetime foramedicalinterventionfromashorelongerthan30minutes,shouldbenefitfrombeing equipped with the emergency medical kit/bag (EMK)”.

 

2          The  Maritime  Safety  Committee  (MSC),  at  its  eightieth  session  (11  to  20  May  2005), adoptedtheaforementionedadditionalguidanceandinvitedMemberGovernmentstobringitto the attention of all concerned.

 

3          ThiscircularsupplementsMSC/Circ.1042onListofcontentsofthe “Emergencymedical bit/bag”andmedicalconsiderationforitsuseonro-ropassengershipsnotnormallycarryinga medical doctor.
