The Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization has
the honour to transmit herewith the text of a communication by the Government of the
Netherlands concerning the withdrawal of equivalent arrangements accepted under regulation
I/5 of the above Convention.
The Secretary-General would be grateful if steps could be taken to bring this information
to the attention of the appropriate authorities.

Subject Withdrawal of IMO circular letter nr.2236
and consequential period of grace
Dear Mr. Secretary-General,
With reference to Circular letter No. 2236, dated 19 June 2000, I like to inform you
that, based on the developments within IMO and the consequential information in
MSC.1/Circ. 1206, the Netherlands has decided to withdraw the equivalent arrangement under
the provisions of Regulation I/5 of the SOLAS Convention as reflected in Circular letter
No. 2236 by the date of 1 March 2009, Regarding the requirements pertaining to the
dynamical load test, the Government of the Netherlands allows a period of grace under
Circular letter No. 2236 until 1 March 2014.
It is appreciated if you could bring this information to the attention of Member
Governements.
