Samenvatting

An inventory of the discharges of priority substances has been taken, using 1985 as a base year. Furthermore, the expected discharge reduction has been estimated for 1995. This prognosis takes into account the application of the national best available technologies for industrial and municipal discharges and the best environmental (reduction) practice for diffuse discharges. Most of the considered substances are part of the list of priority substances of the Rhine Action Programme and the list of substances adopted in 1990 during the Third Ministrial Conference for the Protection of the North Sea. Other (groups of) substances, such as PAH's and mineral oil were also included in the inventory because of national priority, assigned to these substances in the river inputs to the North Sea.
