Samenvatting

Looking at congestion problems in urban areas, a fast and effective system is needed to monitor and control traffic. An Origin-Destination (O-D) trip table is an important input for implementing such a system. In this report a comprehensive survey of O-D estimation techniques is presented. Literature reviews of static and dynamic approaches of O-D estimation lead to descriptions of a linear programming approach for synthesizing O-D trip tables from link traffic volume, a modification to the Kalman Filter approach for O-D trip table estimation, and a linear programming approach using the conjugate gradient method for estimating O-D trip tables.
