1          TheMaritimeSafetyCommittee,atitsseventy-firstsession(19to28May1999),approved,with

aviewtoensuringuniformapplicationofthefiretestprovisionsoftheFTPCodecontainingvaguewording whichisopentodiverginginterpretations,theunifiedinterpretationspreparedbytheSub-Committeeon FireProtection,atitsforty-thirdsession,assetoutintheannex.

 

2          MemberGovernmentsareinvitedtousetheannexedinterpretationsasguidancewhenapplying relevantprovisionsoftheFTPCodeforthetestingofnewmaterialstestedonorafter21May1999,in ordertofulfilltherequirementsofthe1974SOLASConvention,andtobringtheseinterpretationstothe attentionofallpartiesconcerned.
